Autism, also called Autism Spectrum Disorder, is a mental condition present from early childhood characterized by difficulty in communicating and forming relationships with other people. Other symptoms include difficulties in using language and abstract concepts. Autism is a complex disorder of the brain. Autism can be associated with intellectual disabilities, difficulties in motor coordination and attention.
AUTISM SPEAKS is the world leading autism science and advocacy organization dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatment and possibly even a cure for autism. Founded in 2005, Autism Speaks seeks to provide hope and information to families of autistic children. In my practice, I assist families in getting benefits and services for those individuals who meet the disability criteria as established by the Social Security Administration under the Supplemental Security Income guidelines. The child’s impairments may meet the listing criteria or one can establish disability by having marked limitations in two domains. For more information about the eligibility criteria, contact me.
